Rebecca Breeds and Luke Mitchell’s Wedding

Rebecca Breeds and Luke Mitchell’s Wedding

We were absolutely thrilled when celebrity couple Rebecca Breeds and Luke Mitchell asked us to film their wedding.

The wedding was planned and co-ordinated by Rebecca, who did an amazing job of bringing together a beautiful bush-themed wedding.  It was one of the hottest weddings we’ve ever filmed … figuratively and literally, as the temperatures soared to 47′ !

It was a fun-filled, intimate weekend with their family and friends who gathered to celebrate Rebecca & Luke’s marriage. I have to say that I have never seen a bride more excited than Rebecca to be putting on her wedding dress!

One of the songs used in this highlight film is ‘Into the Wild’ by Caitlin Harnett, who performed live as the couple signed their wedding certificate.

Keep an eye out for a couple of very special guests … Cerocco and Muffin, two gorgeous ponies who featured during the post-ceremony photo shoot.

I asked Rebecca to tell me a bit about the planning for the wedding and her favourite moments …

Tell us a little bit about yourselves, how did you meet and when did Luke propose?

From the moment we met Luke and I felt like we already knew each other, it was quite a surreal experience actually. Three years later he surprised me with a proposal whilst we were on a little get away for his birthday on the beautiful Hayman Island. It was perfect.

Tell us about your decision to have the wedding at this venue?

We LOVE nature and the venue is completely submersed in it. They key areas of the bush cathedral, the valley view decking and reception area were all breathtaking. It also meant we could accommodate our guests there for a whole weekend and really savour the experience so it didn’t go too fast. The extra bonding time really made a huge difference, and there were no cars, changing locations, time limitations, designated drivers so there was no stress, just fun.

Tell us about choosing your wedding dress?Finding the right designer is the most important step. The moment I found Steven Khalil’s website no one else compared. He was the man for the job, I took my vision to him and he made it a reality. A nature themed, one time princess gown for a young bride who wanted to show off her shoes. Steven is a genius and a lovely man.
What was the ‘inspiration’ for your wedding style, wedding colours, etc. ?I just like classy but really natural. The reception looked like a magical woodland with the hanging flowers and vines done to perfection by ‘The Sisters’ at Engadine Florist. They had such incredible ideas and managed to incorporate the beauty and softness of nature with the wild messiness that I also love. The theming company ‘Romeo’s Chair’ added the class with the chandeliers’ lanterns, fairly lights (good ambient mood lighting is SO important) along with the willow arch (decorated by the florists) and the white carpet. When it all came together is was even more magical than I’d imagined.
Did you have any special touches that you incorporated into your ceremony? We wrote our own vows which was lovely to personalise them and put them in our own words.  The more ‘you’ they are they more likely it is you’ll remember them.
What are your most vivid memories and favourite moments from the wedding day?Wow.. Getting into my dress with my bridesmaids and parents around was really beautiful. The tears were flowing and we had a group hug and sent up a little prayer. The ceremony was incredible, I’ll never forget the way Luke was looking at me on that altar. Or first dance was romantic but really fun too.
What was ‘the best decision you made’ with regard to your wedding day?I think that holding the wedding over a whole weekend really nurtured our relationships with friends and family. There was a lot of love in the air and the joining of two families was really natural. We were all so much closer by the end and Luke and I felt so loved and supported by everyone.
